Defending champion Van Holmgren overcame a two-shot deficit late in the round with birdies on 17 and 18 to force a playoff with former North Dakota State teammate Nate Deziel. Holmgren won on the first extra hole, No. 18, with about the same putt that got him there in the first place just 20 minutes earlier.

Artist Van Holmgren has been making a name for himself in the Des Moines art community for the past few years through hard work and overcoming struggles. It was a fun talk giving new insights on a blossoming art community, what takes to be a hungry artist, making a name for yourself, his inspirations, and some of his musical tastes.
