In this episode we talk to Ber Grogan. As an activist, Ber was involved with the Abortion Rights Campaign, and was a co-ordinator in Dublin North West during the referendum to repeal the eighth amendment. She also ran a Seanad campaign for the NUI panel, and is currently active in Communities Against Racism.We discuss the Abortion Rights Campaign, Together for Yes and the Eighth Amendment Repeal campaign, and the experience of organising, canvassing, producing campaign material and building community groups and activist networks. We have something a bit different for Episode 10! While Mary #2 was off gallivanting in London, Mary #1 sat down with Ber Grogan, independent candidate for NUI panel of Seanad Éireann. Once Mary got over the weirdness of not having Mary #2 there, we had some great chats! Expect housing and single people, pro-choice activism, dating, politics and why everyone on mortgage ads has great teeth. Getting a seat in the Seanad is never easy and particularly for independent candidates. So it is with great pleasure we welcome Ber Grogan to The Tortoise Shack.Ber is running as an independent candidate on the NUI Panel. With a decade of social justice activism, grassroot organising and successful campaigning under her belt, Ber has a lot to bring to the Seanad. More recently Ber has been involved with National Policy Work.
