Donald Ian Bull grew up in San Francisco and attended UC Berkeley, moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA Film School and then stayed in Los Angeles to start a career in non-fiction TV and documentaries. In the early 90’s, documentaries were morphing into reality television, and he worked as an editor, then director and producer on many shows, including The Real World, The Osbournes, and Dr. 90210.  He then returned to writing, his first passion. He wrote the action-adventure trilogy, The Quintana Adventures, featuring former Army reconnaissance photographer Steven Quintana and movie star Julia Travers. The Picture Kills is the first book, Six Passengers, Five Parachutes is the second, and The Danger Game is the last book in the trilogy. He’s also written two other novels – Liars in Love and Facing Reality, and several books of nonfiction. In his TV career, Donald worked with kids at summer camp, cheerleaders, plastic surgeons, rock stars, models, actors, pot growers, soldiers, celebrities, football champions, circus performers, surfers, kids with autism, and nannies to rich people -- and now he brings those experiences to his writing. He has directed and produced short films, including Dodgeball and the comic documentary Men Talk Sex. He also wrote a how-to manual on how to direct true documentary reality TV, The Reality TV Producer and Director Handbook. He lives in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter. In his free time, he likes to follow them around with a notebook and write down all the hilarious things they say.  He loves his family first, writing second, and California third. He also wants to be mayor of San Francisco or Los Angeles someday, but his wife won’t let him enter politics. He has written five books of fiction as Ian Bull so far -- an action-adventure trilogy, THE QUINTANA ADVENTURES, and two noir romance books under the CALIFORNIA NOIR banner.  As Donald Ian Bull he's written essays about swimming, a TV production guidebook, and he published a book of the early posts from his blog, CaliforniaBull.com. His family is originally from Ontario, Canada. he grew up in San Francisco, graduated from UC Berkeley, worked at KQED in San Francisco, then moved to Los Angeles to attend UCLA Film School and stayed for a career in documentaries and reality television.
