This is a little late, but I wanted to do it right. Growing up in Texas I certainly knew the name Bill Yeoman, but it wasn't really until I got into broadcasting and talking to coaches that I realized the impact he made with the veer offense. Yeoman spent his freshman year at Texas A&amp;M before going to Army where he was part of some amazing teams with two Heismann Trophy winners in the backfield. Heck, he was even a second-team All-American at center. You're no dummy if you go to Army and Wyatt told me his old coach had a 165 IQ, but he was able to make the complex things simple. He eventually got back to Texas after a stint at Michigan State, coaching the Cougars to four SWC titles. I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't know he signed Warren McVea when no one else in the South had signed an African-American player. I talked to former Houston Cougars punter Jay Wyatt to gain a little more perspective on the man that put the Coogs on the map. I have known Jay since I started broadcasting Diboll Lumberjacks football way back in 2002 and I knew he'd have some great stories about the College Football Hall of Famer.
