Jayme Aronberg and David Burkman stop by today to talk about their acclaimed film "Haze", the process of making an independent film, sudden success and the films ongoing legacy.

Haze is director David Burkman’s take on fraternity and sorority hazing. Shortly after another pledge has died while being hazed, we follow Nick, a new pledge who takes us through this journey of humiliation, debauchery, and occasionally brotherhood. We also follow Mimi, Nick’s best friend who pledges to the affiliate sorority so she can be closer to Nick. Unlike Nick, this doesn’t mean as much to Mimi, it’s simply a way to keep them together.  The film follows both of them as they engage in numerous obstacles, parties, and even crimes, all while forgetting to handle their studies, and ultimately leads up to Hell Week. Also, Nick’s brother Pete is trying to bust the fraternity doing anything that will bring them down.  For our exclusive interview, writer and Director David Burkman dropped by to break down his new film and why college hazing was such a personal story to tell. We discuss making the film, as well as how realistic many of these hazing rituals actually are. It's another exciting BEHIND THE LENS this week as we welcome writer/director DAVID BURKMAN, plus, hear film critic debbie elias' exclusive interview with cinematographer ED LACHMAN.In his first feature outing, DAVID BURKMAN tackles the Greek system of the college world with HAZE. A "fictional" work structured much like the story of Dionysus in "The Bacchae" by Euripedes, Burkman's approach is hard-charging and at times no-holds-barred shocking but at the same time eye-opening on issues that face us not only on the college campus but within human nature.  Filmmakers will appreciate hearing about the logistic challenges David faced as a first-time feature filmmaker over 90 days of shooting during the course of 18 months, as well as score (complete with intonations of ancient Greek melodies and performance by reconstructed ancient instruments), lensing, and with over 300 hours of footage in hand – editing.But first, take a listen to our exclusive interview with cinematographer ED LACHMAN talking about his latest film, the magical and wondrous WONDERSTRUCK.
