October 25, 2020| The Abba Prayer #3: Give Us This Day --Mike Elmer

We are embarking on a spiritual journey together, a season of prayer.  If we want to see God work in our midst, then nothing can replace prayer.  There is no program or plan, no strategy or shortcut, no money or mission that can replace the power of prayer, which asks humbly, yet boldly, for God’s Spirit to work in our midst.  As J.I. Packer put it, “The Spirit does not move where there is not much prayer.”  Let’s join together and open ourselves up for 40 Days of increased intentionality to prayer, both privately and corporately.

COLOSSIANS:  ROOTED &amp; BUILT UP Two prominent ideas from Paul’s brief but beautiful letter to the church at Colossae stand out: (1) the Supremacy of Christ and (2) our Fullness in Christ.  Paul teaches us that these concepts, held together, drive us towards a deep, transformative spirituality.  Half-baked ideologies and pseudo-spiritualities compete for our affections in the religious marketplace both then and now.  Our culture’s self-help ideology urges you that “help comes from within” while moralistic behavioralism tells you “just make better choices”.   Yet, Paul’s vision of Christ is counter-cultural in a way that is deeply satisfying for the soul.  The simple biblical gospel changes everything.  Let’s journey this summer with the apostle Paul… Summer of the Apostle Paul Daily Reading Plan is available online HERE.
