Thanks so much for joining us.Hey guys, it's Chelsea. I'm here today with Ryan and we are in a couple chapters of Micah Second Chronicles, Isaiah, Second Kings just all over the place here. SoRyan Zook  0:27  the full gamut today guys,Chelsea Mosher  0:29  just a reminder that for Micah, if you want to go back and actually read it yourself, the different headings separate the different for goals or the prophecies, so like, it isn't all one big long prophecy, it is important to actually open up your Bible and read it because it does jump around a little bit. I just thought I should point that out. Yeah. All right. What's that got to?Ryan Zook  0:51  Well, I mean, I think like the the theme of this episode is probably going to be like the correlations between actual history like we what we believe to be historical fact what what most people believe to be a historical fact what Christians believe to be historical fact. Because there's a lot of cross cross references we can make from the stuff that we read today. There's a ton of that. Before we get into that Micah six, eight is here. Yeah. Love Micah six, eight. So the the essence of Micah six, eight is basically I think this this is becoming very clear, like the more that we're reading this God's whole story, like a lot of the prophets are talking about, like how empty your sacrifices are when your heart is not right. So Mike, I think uses a little bit of hyperbole like, Hey, what are we supposed to use? 1000s of rams, and 1000s of rivers of oil, like, who cares about that stuff? So then Micah six, eight, no, oh, people, the Lord has told you what is good. This is what the Lord requires of us. So you folks out there with questioning, like, what does God want? What should I be doing? What does God ask for me? Well, this is it, to do what is right to love mercy and to walk humbly with God. It is actually amazing how those three things actually sum up a lot of what the Christian faith is. So I love that. That's like one of my favorite verses in the whole Bible.Chelsea Mosher  2:04  Yeah. And it sums up again, it's like one of those popular verses, but it really does sum up everything that these prophets have been asking of the people that God does not want your empty sacrifices. He wants your hearts.Ryan Zook  2:15  And God continues to interact with us that way. Like, yeah, this continues to ring true that God is asking us to be merciful people. He's asking us to do what is right. And he's asking us to walk humbly with him walking with Him is actually just being in relationship with him constantly. Yeah, yeah. Humbly, humbly. Yeah.Chelsea Mosher  2:34  The verse that stuck out to me in Micah was Micah seven, nine, I will be patient as the Lord punishes me, for I have sinned against him. After that, he will take up my case and give me justice, for I have suffered from my enemies, and the Lord will bring me into the light, and I will see his righteousness. We've talked about this a little bit before, but like judgment and punishment and discipline in the Bible does happen. And I mean, I firmly believe that God's still disciplines us today. And it's important to be patient. Like, if you're disobedient to God, there's consequences. Just like when our kids are disobedient. There's consequences. Doesn't mean he doesn't love us.
