Canaccord Genuity Chief Market Strategist Tony Dwyer for a second time joins hosts Aaron Task and Stephen Alpher on the Alpha Trader podcast."There is no precedent to how high valuations can go," said Dwyer, making some news on Monday by pulling his 3,300 target for the S&amp;P 500 (SP500). I have no idea what multiple you pay for an "unlimited" Fed, says Dwyer. 20x? 24x? 30x? 100x?Dwyer is bullish, but not just because the Fed's new framework and massive U.S. debt loads likely mean 0% policy rates for many more years. There also appears to be a synchronized global recovery at hand. Things won't go up in a straight line - in fact, the current level of frothiness suggests a correction could soon hit - but Dwyer thinks investors ought to be ready to buy any dips.Dwyer reminds that the "market" of late is essentially a small handful of names that seemingly go higher each day. At the root of Dwyer's bullishness last year was the Fed's about-face, with a switch to rate cuts throughout 2019 vs. the previous years' rate hike cycle.Currently, a number of technical and sentiment factors are pointing to over-exuberance, says Dwyer, and he's expecting a modest pullback in stocks (timing to be decided upon). The bull market remains intact though, and Dwyer would be a buyer on the dip, particularly in economically sensitive sectors like financials (XLF), industrials (XLI), and information technology (XLK).Dwyer believes there's been a generational shift in thinking at the Fed, with the central bankers now way more worried about the U.S. becoming the next Japan or Europe, rather than inflation getting to perky. It could be a "very, very long time" before the Fed embarks on another series of rate hikes.Dwyer also weighs in on the Fed's massive injections of liquidity into the repo market. Smart folks can argue about whether this is simply necessary plumbing or a stealth QE, and Dwyer is happy to defer to their opinions. Bottom line, says Dwyer: "Who cares?" The S&amp;P 500 came into October this year up double digits. It has done so on 42 occasions since 1926. That’s almost 50% of the time. Of those 42 times, in 35 cases the market went up through the end of the year.  I’ve been a fan of Tony Dwyer’s work for a long time. Those of you who know me see me approach the market from a top/down global macro and intermarket perspective. Tony starts his process in a similar way at Cannacord Genuity and Dwyerstrategy.com. When we’re talking about the next direction for stocks, we both focus on other assets like credit to help identify big trends. We look at the behavior of commodity and currency markets to make decisions in equities. I thought this was a really fun conversation. I particularly enjoyed Tony’s comparisons to 1995 and what was going on then with respect to the President’s public issues, interest rates, precious metals and the US Dollar.
