Recently the Genealogical Society of Linn County and the town of Cedar Rapids were highlighted. Ruth Armstrong was interviewed by Sean Radcliff, creator of Preservation Oaks. The Genealogical Society of Linn County, Iowa was designated as a Family Search Center in 2020. You can access records on family search that otherwise you would not be able to access. The Parole: Law, Policy and Practice in 2018 Conference was held at the Faculty of Law on 2 July 2018, hosted by the Cambridge Centre for Criminal Justice, and the Centre for Public Law. The Ministry of Justice announced a public consultation into the law, policy and procedure relating to parole which closes on 28 July. The purpose of this conference was to engage in discussions with leading figures in the field and to enrich responses to the consultation. Executive Producer Becca Posterino speaks to Dr Lorana Bartels, Associate Professor School of Law &amp; Justice at the University of Canberra, Dr. Ruth Armstrong, British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellow, St. John's College Research Associate at the University of Cambridge and Dr Amy Ludlow, College Fellow and Lecturer in Law at Gonville and Caius College at the University of Cambridge.Recently Drs Armstrong and Ludlow visited Australia and SubjectACT was invited by Dr Lorana Bartels to discuss this pioneering project in the UK. The UK project is informing Dr Lorana Bartel’s academic research in the ACT and Australia more broadly.As mentioned on the University of Canberra website, Drs Armstrong and Ludlow designed, deliver and are evaluating an initiative called Learning Together. Learning Together brings together students in prisons and universities to study university-level courses with each other, in the prison environment. The program has spread rapidly in the UK and will be running in approximately 20 prisons by January 2017.Their approach contests the rituals of stigmatisation, a normative and punitive approach to rehabilitation by offering a new approach including rituals for redemption. Furthermore Dr Lorana Bartels will lead a similar collaborative learning project with Queensland University of Technology law students to commence in 2017.Originally broadcast on 24th October, 2016.
