From the dancehall to the moshpit, music is Ola Mazzuca’s life vocation and mother tongue. As a journalist, Ola launched her career at age 15, writing about heavy metal, and its extreme sub genres from around the world, leading her to contribute to publications like Exclaim!, Hellbound, Large Up and Noisey, with a run as the Features + Music Editor of a women’s lifestyle magazine. For three years, Ola was passionately invested in her work as a Project Coordinator at the McMichael Canadian Art Collection. She spearheaded the McMichael Enabling Change Project, supported by the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario, which assisted the Canadian art landmark to develop and deliver accessible and inclusive programs for people living with special needs and accessibility barriers. The final product was The Art of Inclusion, a publication to propel others in their mission to develop similar programming. Merging a passion for art and advocacy, she is currently active in her role as a Publicist at Toronto-based management and PR agency, Indoor Recess, working with a multitude of artists from Canada and around the world. She is someone we got a lot of respect for, and is low key one of the heroes of our city who has been helping and shining a light on countless artists for years.
