David JonesDon Burrows Don Burrows passed away on March 12, 2020 at the age of 91, leaving an amazing legacy in a treasure trove of recordings, his establishment of the first Jazz music course at the Sydney Conservatorium, and the many amazing musicians who have been influenced by Don’s mentoring, encouragement and the example he has set. One of those musicians who worked with Don across a number of years, and has many fine memories, is Melbourne based drummer/percussionist David Jones.  David remembers Don as “an icon and a treasure in the music world”, and posted a heartfelt tribute to Don as well as chatting about his many warm memories with David Moyle on Bent Notes. David remembers the generosity and enthusiasm that Don showed for other musicians, whether on the stage, in the studio or in the schoolroom.
