Active in commissioning and presenting new works, Jared has premiered two other works by Frank Glover, (“Remembrance” and “Welcome to the Skeleton Circus”), “Beneath the Surface” by Steve Allee and “Concerto” with wind ensemble by Stan Adams.After first appearing as Guest Artist at the International Trombone Camp in Germany, he returned as guest in Italy and was subsequently named to the faculty where he appeared for the next ten years coaching, teaching and concertizing with some of the world’s most prominent trombonists, including Joe Alessi, Ron Barron, Joe Burnam, Abbie Conant, Stuart Dempster, Jay Friedman, Michael Mulcahy, Charles Vernon and Jiggs Wigham.Presently, Jared is serving as Acting Bass Trombone of the Indianapolis Symphony, and has recently performed with the Chicago Symphony, Minnesota Orchestra, Alabama Symphony, Chicago’s Music of the Baroque and the Grand Teton Music Festival. A long time ago, he was bass trombonist of the Italian National Radio Orchestra in Turin, where he met his beautiful wife Debbie (ICO first violinist).Growing up in Chicago, Jared began his studies with a distant relative, Gerald Myrow and continued with Gerhart Schmeltekopf before going off to Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he continued with Gene Stiman and Mel Jernigan, then of the St. Louis Symphony. Graduate studies at IU Bloomington brought him to the tutelage of Lewis Van Haney and Keith Brown, also at the Music Academy of the West, where he was honored with the “Outstanding Brass Player” award. He also counts among his mentors, Frank Crisafulli, Arnold Jacobs and Michael Mulcahy of the Chicago Symphony.Adjunct Instructor of Trombone at Butler University, Jared has been Lecturer at Northwestern University, Visiting Lecturer at IU Bloomington and Instructor at Ball State and Purdue Universities. He has also presented masterclasses at Cincinnati College-Conservatory, University of New Mexico and Hochschule fur Musik in Trossingen, Germany.No stranger to other musical idioms, Jared has toured and performed with a vast array of entertainers and jazz musicians including Natalie Cole, Frank Sinatra, The Who, Johnny Mathis, Henry Mancini, Andy Williams and trombonists Slide Hampton, Bill Watrous and Kai Winding. Jared Rodin came to Indiana from Chicago, were he had been a student of Frank Crisafulli and Arnold Jacobs to earn the MM degree from Indiana University studying with Keith Brown and Lewis Van Haney. He earned his BM from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale under the tutelage of Gene Stiman and Mel Jernigan of the St. Louis Symphony.Active as a clinician and soloist, Jared has commissioned and premiered many works for the bass trombone including "Morph"(1993 with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra) by Ken Kugler, "Concerto"(1998) by Frank Glover, "Beneath The Surface"(1997) by Steve Allee and another "Concerto"(1998) by Stan Adams. Jared has presented three concerts of music for trombone and strings with the Indianapolis String Quartet at the the Indianapolis Arts Garden. He has been soloist and clinician at Cincinnati College-Conservatory, University of New Mexico and the Hochscule fur Musik in Trossingen, Germany and directed three masterclasses at the Northwestern University School of Music this past spring.A faculty member of The International Trombone Camp, held annually in the province of Cuneo, Italy, Jared has performed as Guest Artist in recital and with notable trombonists Joe Alessi, Ron Barron, Michael Mulcahy and Charles Vernon.
