Jeg er taget til Køge for at mødes med Jacob Panton. I sin mangeårig karriere i Hæren som Oversergent og kampvognskommandør har han haft fem internationale udstationeringer. I den sidste til Afghanistan blev han voldsomt såret af flere skud og adskillige fragmenter samt granatsplinter da to fjender angreb ham. Han døde på operationsbordet pga. hjertestop og måtte genoplives. Med et var hans liv som soldat slut.Det er en sindssyg barsk historie, men vejen tilbage til livet er den jeg finder inspirerende. For hvordan accepterede Jacob at det liv og den identitet han har skabt gennem militæret ligger fortiden til?Men Jacob er også den der kan give os en større forståelse hvad det er veteraner med fysiske handicap og psykiske mén går i gennem.
