Considered a Metal Diva in the European symphonic metal scene (through her work with Avantasia, Epica, Kamelot,  and a duet album entitled Kiske-Somerville with metal legend Michael Kiske), Amanda Somerville is a singer-songwriter originally of the pop / rock vein who’s been roughed up at the edges with a razor blade, painted over the scars with makeup and is sweetly taking her revenge on the microphone. With a vocal range from tenor to soprano and a stylistically diverse singing ability, Amanda’s voice is well suited for multiple styles, but her project TRILLIUM is firmly rooted in the metal genre. The sophomore record from TRILLIUM entitled Tectonic is out this month of June, and fans of artists like The Dark Element, Tarja, Cellar Darling, Lacuna Coil, and the like will find much to enjoy in it: it’s riffy, has a heavy hand instrumentally and Amanda‘s sound is eclectic yet particular, sweet yet raw and commercial yet conventionally-challenged. Think Annie Lennox, Doro, Rob Zombie and Sade thrown into a blender and whipped into a frothy concoction. Watch out for those razor blades!
