Ep. 088: Your Animated Life Part 3: Marriage, Family and the Animation Production Pipeline with Cassie Soliday and Katya Bowser

Welcome to the Ink and Paint Girls podcast where we celebrate women working in animation and explore representation behind the scenes and on the screen. Katya Bowser is a Storyboard Artist and Children’s Book Illustrator. Currently working as a storyboard revisionist at Nickelodeon on the pre-school show, “Shimmer and Shine,” she cut her teeth storyboarding for DisneyToons Studio, Epipheo Studios, many projects by independent filmmakers and then there’s the kids book she created, “Dex T-Rex”, which was published through Stan Lee’s Kids Universe. Though this is all impressive, I have to admit that my favorite of her work would have to be her journal and mommy comics, where she documents her life with her little girl and husband. We discuss how she was able to turn freelance boards into a full-time inhouse gig, how she balances motherhood and work life, as well as how she stays motivated to create in her free time.
