“What I’ve learnt as a parent, and as a coach, is that my role is to teach them to work it out. Because I’m not hitting, or out there in the field, they have to work it out themselves” This conversation is with World Hall of Fame Softball player Eddie Kohlhase. Eddie joined the New Zealand National Softball team in 1983 and went on to an 11-year career, which included a World Championship title in 1984. In 2013, he became the only player is history to coach the team to the same feat. Professionally, Eddie has had a highly successful career with New Zealand customs, and now works as a senior high performance consultant at High Performance Sport NZ. Eddie is also a graduate of the 2007 University of Auckland Hillary Leadership Programme.   On the show today we cover Eddie’s childhood growing up playing a lot in a rich community of sport, his playing and coaching career and what it takes to be the best, fathering two aspiring teenage sportsman, and much more.
