January's MILF (Mother I'd Like To Find Out About) Of The Month is mother of three and founder of Pilates Collective, Clara Gelatt. Not only is Clara an awesome mom, but she's basically a healer. Just ask Tracey. Her journey to becoming one of Denver's most thoughtful and integrative Pilates instructors is equal parts her own desire to help women become strong and healthy + leaning into a mind/body practice that could help her husband with Muscular Dystrophy. We chat with Clara about balancing three young kids while running a business, what it's like to be married to a man with a disability and in a wheelchair; as well as her frustrations with the lack of post-partum care for women and her philosophy behind how and why she practices Pilates. (Spoiler: it's not to get you skinny.) And then we somehow nose-dive into a brief discussion about lube...but it is absolutely NOT what you think it is about. After college, they each moved to separate coasts for a decade. They were reunited when they decided to leave big city life and settle down with their families in Denver, Colorado and Facebook told them their daughters are 3 weeks apart. After several play dates, some more childbirth, some unsuccessful pumping, and the overwhelming nature of mommy community boards, The Pump and Dump Show was born. The show launched in 2012 in a bar in Northwest Denver and quickly grew to a bi-monthly, local staple for new moms to have a night out. In 2014, Shayna and Tracey took The Pump and Dump Show on its first national tour and continue to perform every month to audiences nationwide.
