(With Robbie Bruens). “I would define it as violent and glorious. What kinds of cogs need to come into alignment to drive this force- this deep mystery within us. Where does this trap come from, why can’t we recognize it before we are already ensnared? We have all felt the uncontrollable pull from a song, a color, a woman. Like a parasite inside of our brains repeating this desire over and over again in lascivious whispers. War. Love. The Internet. Father. Bombs. Nature. Sonic. Heroin. Dreams. Violence. Her. Money. Mother. Gold. Skunks. Land. Chili Dogs. Video Games. Perversion. Time. Death. Is obsession something you have or does obsession have you, The Human? If you cannot control your obsessions then clearly they must control you. Listen to the show:  Chapter 3: If Knuckles tilted his head just right, the brim of his hat obscured the blood on the floor. He covered the flickering flame at the end of his lighter from the wind that wanted to extinguish it. The harsh, friendly smoke escaped the lit tip of his cigarette, as the tobacco billowed against his cheeks and tongue. He didn’t lift his head as he pulled the smoke into his lungs. His eyes would betray him to his colleagues, still beating on the robot they spilled open on Vector’s kitchen floor. The sound was muted, unimpressive in a way the echidna never got used to. Being in a fight, you fall back on your learning and instincts- the drama is made manifest by your body and your impulses- it feels mythic. But when the fight is over, giving way to beatings, torture, execution- the drama fades away, the narrative ends, and you’re left only with the hollow, wet, muted rhythm of one piece of animal breaking apart another piece of animal- ‘No.’ He reminded himself that this thing is not what he is, and that’s why it’s on the floor and he’s permitted to breathe another cigarette. All the same, he found himself wincing at the wet, fart-like sound of something giving way inside the robot’s body as Vector came down with a this-time more enthusiastic swing of his foot. “Goddamnit” Vector yelped, laughing. He had hurt his foot that time. Knuckles still didn’t look up but heard the shifting shoes on Vector’s feet as he re-centered himself, preparing to avenge his hurt toe with another, surely lethal kick to the robot’s ribs. Knuckles felt himself begin to speak- perhaps with boldness- but before the words came out, Slick Baboon beat him to it. “This is done” Slick said, ceasing Vector’s assault reluctantly. Knuckles had some evidence that his world- his life hadn’t completely malfunctioned, and that evidence was Slick Baboon. Finally, he lifted his head, expecting to see the gory outcome of Vector’s dance on their robotic guest, but was met with Slick Baboon’s kind eyes instead. He tarried on those bright eyes lodged in Slick’s face, not wanting to break the gaze, especially since directly behind the head that housed that kindness was a scene he still didn’t want to think about. Slick reached his hand to the back of Knuckle’s head, his arms shaking- perhaps because of the adrenaline from the beating laid on their enemy, the robot. Knuckles wanted his touch. Their eyes remained locked. “You straight?” Slick asked Knuckles, soberly. Knuckles swallowed, straightened out his jacket. “Yeah” he replied.
