Our guest for today is Kabir Parker—marine biologist, University of Miami graduate, master freediver, and conscious spearfisherman. After realizing that doing scientific research alone is like diagnosing a problem but not fixing it, he decided to take a more active role to protect the oceans and marine life through entrepreneurship. Seaweed, Spearfishing, and Sustainability with Kabir Parker

Kabir is a passionate free-diver, researcher, conservationist, and videographer. He has spent time in a multitude of ocean ecosystems, from coral reefs to kelp forests, documenting marine life and the impact human beings have on marine habitats. Having experience researching coral-zooxanthellae symbiosis as well as microbes involved in oil spill cleanup. As part of an internship at NASA he developed satellite image models of what plastic signals look like in the ocean.
