Deborah Gross Torraca DPT, MSPT, Diplomat ABPTS, CCRP has been involved in the field of animal physical rehabilitation for over 17 years and currently owns a small animal rehabilitation practice in Connecticut called Wizard of Paws Physical Rehabilitation for Animals, LLC. She received her BS from Boston University, a Masters's degree from Quinnipiac College, and her doctorate from the University of Tennessee. She has advanced certifications in her field. Dr. Torraca has lectured throughout the world on the topic of small animal rehabilitation for the past 12 years, and is one of the founders of the certificate program in canine rehabilitation from the University of Tennessee. She has published widely on both the professional level and to dog enthusiasts of many venues. Laser therapy has been an interest and passion of hers for over 10 years and she is very active in the development of treatment programs and education on laser therapy. Wizard of Paws Physical Rehabilitation for Animals is a team of professionals dedicated to the rehabilitation, conditioning, and wellness of their canine and other animal friends. Their goal is to allow you to give your animal the best quality of life for the longest time possible. Wizard of Paws was founded by Debbie Gross Torraca in 1996 and has gone through many changes over the years. The Wizard of Paws clinic offers a variety of services for dogs related to physical rehabilitation, conditioning, wellness, and well-being for most animals. Their staff all owns dogs and other animals, inclusive of dogs, a horse, a rabbit, cats, chameleons, fish, and who knows what else they will add! The experience they offer is second to none. Their facilities were specifically designed to meet the demands of all canine rehabilitation clients. Attention to detail has been key, and the facility offers state-of-the-art equipment. They also offer services outside of the office to other animals, inclusive of large animals and animals that cannot travel.

On this episode Deborah tells Aaron about The Philadelphia Bar Association, her initiatives as Chancellor of the Bar, and talks about lobbying in Pennsylvania and Washington. She starts off by explaining what the Philadelphia Bar Association is and what it’s importance is. She explains the Bar’s responsibilities in the legal world from investigating judge candidates, to providing continuing legal education, donating money and helping non-profit legal services, and providing support for lawyers.   She goes on to tell us about a project the Bar has been working on that will house over 20 legal non-profit companies to help them get affordable office-space, so they can better help their clients. This is one of her biggest missions as Chancellor; making sure this project continues moving forward and these non-profits get the help they need.   Finally, Deborah talks about her lobbying efforts in Harrisburg and how she has been working to reform hate crime laws in Pennsylvania. She explains PA’s hate crime statute is one of only 5 in the country that does not extend protection to cover individuals with disabilities, sexual identity, or gender identity. Her lobbying efforts have been spent trying to get an amendment to the hate crime statute out of committee and onto the floor so it can be voted on.
