Sylvia Hastanan started Greater Good Health to give more people access to equitable care. Now the company is redefining what holistic valued-based care looks like, starting with the people healthcare relies on the most—Nurse Practitioners. As a nurse with a ton of experience working with large healthcare companies, Sylvia saw that nurse practitioners were being overlooked and underutilized, but she knew they could help fill the gap in primary care. Her goal is to empower these NPs to give the best care possible. Strangely enough, she became more aware of the need for this solution while working with a venture fund and keeping an eye on changes in healthcare laws and payment models. Sylvia's main focus was finding the right fit for the market, not becoming an entrepreneur or CEO. But even before the company was officially established, she landed some major contracts. Empowering Nurse Practitioners with Sylvia Hastanan

Sylvia Hastanan is the CEO and Founder of Greater Good Health and shines a light on the experience and new skills that nurse practitioners have developed as a result of the demand for virtual care during the pandemic. Sylvia wants to empower and train NPs as primary care providers to provide more access to underserved communities and to promote a stronger partnership between nurse practitioners and physicians to handle the ever-increasing demand for chronic and senior healthcare.  Sylvia explains, "Greater Good Health is building a medical group of nurse practitioners simply with a mission to expand more access to care to people who need it. We believe in supporting nurse practitioners, who we think have been an overlooked and maybe underutilized resource in healthcare, and nurse practitioners specifically as primary care providers." "Well, my background has always been in healthcare and provider services. I worked for organizations across the United States that supported physician groups, primary care physician groups specifically. And I watched as NPs worked alongside physicians.
