We are honoring our 2023 award winners heading into the Nashville convention. Next up on the ABCA podcast is former Horizon High School head coach, Eric Kibler. Coach Kibler is being honored with the Dave Keilitz Ethics Award and also going into the ABCA Hall of Fame this year. In 1980, Kibler started the baseball program at Horizon High School. Kibler shaped the landscape of high school and youth baseball in the State of Arizona and nationally with a 2007 National Championship, 6 5A State Championships, 3 State Runner-ups, 7 National Invitational Championships and 881 career wins which is the most wins in Arizona history. Kibler has an illustrious career in the baseball industry. Over the last 4 decades he has racked up many honors including being inducted into the Arizona Baseball Coaches and the National High School Hall of Fame. Next up on the ABCA Podcast is former Central Michigan head coach, Athletic Director and ABCA Executive Director Dave Keilitz. Keilitz spent 14 seasons as the Chippewas' head coach from 1971-1984. He led Central Michigan to six NCAA Regionals before spending 10 years as CMU Athletic Director. He was also chair of the NCAA Baseball Committee. From 1994-2014 he was the ABCA Executive Director, overseeing saw some of the most important legislation that was put in place for college baseball as well as significant growth of the organization. He is a Central Michigan and ABCA hall of Famer and was recently inducted into the College Baseball Hall of Fame. We got a chance to sit down with Keilitz in the Marriott Hotel in Omaha during the ABCA Board of Directors meetings at the College World Series. Dave is a 52 year continuous member of the ABCA and a shining example of having success as you transition from one step to another in your career. He gives great advice on leading a life of impact and tips on how to be successful as a coach, administrator and executive. This is also a great history lesson on the College game and the ABCA. This week's ABCA Podcast features ABCA Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award recipients Lance Spigner and Ryan McGinnis. Dave Keiltitz was the ABCA Executive Director from 1994-2014 and was longtime head baseball coach and later Athletic Director at Central Michigan University. Keilitz was inducted to the ABCA Hall of Fame in 1989. Spigner is first on this week's podcast. He is going into his second season with the brand new junior college program at University of Arkansas Rich Mountain following 28 very successful years at Horatio High School, where he won five state championships. The second half of the episode is with McGinnis, Athletic Director and head baseball coach at Kimberly High School in Wisconsin. McGinnis has 345 career victories and Kimberly has nine state tournament trips with two state championships.
