Listen to what your customers are saying about your brand so you can make changes to your business on the fly. Remember that your customers don’t know as much about your business as you do.  It’s easy to take things for granted, so listen to them and give them the information they are looking for. Social media allows you to have direct feedback from your audience, take it in, and adjust it for your audience.  It’s essentially real-time input. Twitter can be like a personal wire service to get news out about your business/industry.  On Creating Your Own Voice and Personality in Your Social Media…  If you have multiple social media accounts, make sure each has it’s own voice and personality. Big benefit to using the first person when you’re doing social media for your business.  Be engaging! Bring a human element to your social media.  Try and tell the story of your business through social.  Highlight employees, behind-the-scenes, etc… If you’re having trouble figuring out how to tell the story of your business, bring someone in from the outside and ask them what they think about your business.  On Using Social Media to Create Brand Advocates for Your Business…  Think about how you can use social media to bring people together in person.  They will be your brand advocates and spread the word about you. If people are getting together at your business, encourage them to take pictures and share them via social media!  Top 3 Things Veronica Would Do To Start Out in Social Media…  Have a well-done website with great visuals.  A good online presence is important! Sites like Yelp are important to keep up, if appropriate.  Respond to customer concerns appropriately. Look at the social channels that are available and see which one(s) might work best for your business.  Twitter might be the easiest to start out with. Be responsive.  Don’t treat social media as a way to just push out information.  It’s a two-way conversation.
