In this week's episode, we talk with Dr. Joel Matthys about his class MUS232- Art of the Machine: Creative Computing from Algorithm to A.I. This interdisciplinary course combines artificial intelligence, coding, and visual and performance art to help students understand how computers think. The course explores how algorithms and coding can be used to create beautiful works of art, from Islamic tiles to naturally formed objects. This week, we are talking with Dr. Darrell Brown and Dr. Joel Matthys about their collaboration on a piece of "flex music" created for the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles. Flex music is composed so that any band can play it, no matter their size or diversity of instruments. Their piece will premiere this fall by our very own Carroll University Wind Ensemble!
