In this episode I speak with Sheridan, who is mum to toddler Elle and  also pregnant with number two. Sheridan shares the challenges she experienced adjusting to becoming a mum and the unrealistic expectations she placed on herself thanks to social media. She shares her experience of breastfeeding including why she exclusively pumped for 13 months and why it didn’t help her mental health when people praised her for the effort. Sheridan offers some insightful advice around what you could do if you see someone pumping like she was and why it’s ok to give yourself permission to stop. Sheridan also spoke about how being in the health and fitness industry impacted the pressures she felt to ‘bounce back’ and what she expected her experience would look like, vs what it was. As nutrition is a topic that applies to all humans. Personal beliefs, opinions are common and many feel the need to voice their approach, thoughts, and ideas surrounding how we should eat. However, while we're all fundamentally the same as species, there are only a few things that can be applied with minimal contextual background or consideration. A lack of understanding likely derived from a lack of actual education can result in advice, messages, and content about diet spreading that doesn't consider the negative implications that can result when individual circumstances and possibilities are not considered. These implications can be dangerous. Effects include physical and psychological and can impact all facets of total human health. They can be so severe to the point of fatality.
