She is a Life Coach for Transformation, is Reiki attuned, and holds a B.S. in Dance.  Shawna has been teaching yoga and practicing her healing modalities for nearly 20 years.  She has hosted numerous retreats including those at the world famous Garrison Institute in Garrison, NY, and co-facilitated various 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Trainings.  Currently, she is co-facilitating monthly immersions online, continues in her one-on-one 'ALIGN' sessions, and will be offering her largest program ever this fall!  She comes from multiple lineage lines of heart-centered healers, givers, and hard workers and is grateful,humbled, and honored to be carrying on the traditions in her own unique ways.

Exploratory Conversation with Guest Co-Host Shawna Emerick: Reconnecting with Spirit in Parenthood

 We recorded this podcast just yesterday and did what was necessary to release it within 24 hours because our guest has 2 exciting projects that are happening this week and we wanted to get the word out to everyone as soon as possible. One workshop takes place this coming Sunday November 22nd, the first in a series, called “Manifest Monthly”  of monthly yoga workshops to deepen your physical practice while supporting grassroots organizations. The other is a 4 month program, called “Hibernation for Healing”  that begins this Wednesday November 18th. Hopefully you will be able to participate in at least one, if not both of these meaningful offerings.  So my guest today is Shawna Emerick. Shawna was a guest 2 years ago and is a gifted Yoga Teacher, Thai Bodywork Therapist, Life Coach and Spiritual Activist. Shawna brings such heart and integrity to everything she does and it is truly a joy to shine light on Shawna once again. Yes, I encourage everyone to take a yoga class, workshop or retreat from Shawna or experience her balancing Thai massage healing touch, or receive the insightful guidance from Shawna’s life coaching. Episode 141 Shawna Emerick, Yoga Teacher, Thai Bodywork Therapist, Life Coach

 My guest today is Shawna Emerick. Shawna is a dancer, gifted yoga teacher, retreat leader, and although we didn’t talk about it in this conversation, she is also a Thai massage practitioner and life coach. We first met dancing together in the performance company Moving Mantras, which blended modern dance and yoga. I soon discovered Shawna’s unique gifts as an outstanding yoga teacher. She utilizes her knowledge of anatomy, with verbal cues that are expressed like poetry, she embraces yoga philosophy, while modeling vulnerability and authenticity, she blends a childlike curiosity with her mature spiritual groundedness, making Shawna one of my all time favorite teachers.  Shawna was a treasured participant in a group I ran 6 years ago, called “Cultivating Sacred Activists” which culminated in a 2 week volunteer trip to Malawi, Africa to support Anna Msowoya-Keys’s organization Maloto, which addresses the needs of AIDS orphans. (Please check out Anna’s podcast conversation with me - episode #9  in your podcast feed).  Shawna beautifully describes what that experience meant to her.  Soon after our return, her boyfriend Geoffrey proposed to Shawna - I guess distance DOES makes the heart grow fonder! She lists all that she admires and loves in Geoffrey and what it has been like to raise their sweet 3 year old, son Max. Shawna openly shares the heartache from her miscarriage, having discovered that miscarriages are one of life’s silent sufferers. She has bonded with other women and found great supports in the grieving and healing process. I know you will be inspired by Shawna’s empathy and wisdom.  Enjoy the podcast!
