Beaver Theodosakis, Founder of prAna | History of Gear

In 2016, we conducted an extensive series of interviews and surveys to find out how OIA—the outdoor industry’s membership trade association—can best support outdoor companies. What we learned is that our members see us as a convener—the unifying entity best equipped to galvanize the industry around three important issues: policy, participation and sustainable business. We then identified individuals who are already working to move the needle on those issues within their respective companies.    Getting kids outside. It’s the future of the outdoor industry and, in the end, it’s what we should all be striving for. Beaver Theodosakis, the founder of prAna, has focused his time as an Outdoor Foundation board member on programs like Parks4Kids to get young people like Ella, Ella and Emme (dubbed the 3 Es by their parents) outside. The words and phrases include: visionary, soulful leader, mindful, sharp but approachable, passion-centric. Beaver and Pam are climbers, yogis, outdoor and environmentalists, parents and community members – AND entrepreneurs. It’s intertwined, and that’s part of the secret to the success of prAna. It’s what attracted the right team members, the right customers and end consumers. It’s what built the culture of prAna. Beaver and Pam are mentors to me, and have taught me SO much about being a founder and how to use business as a vehicle for positive change. Beaver and Pam always prioritized doing the right thing for prAna’s people, customers and for the planet. That was always the directional driver for prAna.
