Before launching Everest Effect, Naysa was the SVP of Global Brand and Product Marketing at Citi FinTech, where she led new product launches, including the world's first FinTech beta testing community. Her career also includes marketing and business development roles at LinkedIn, Citi’s Women &amp; Co., and WeWork. Naysa is a member of Founder’s Pledge and a past board member of Step Up. She is proud to live in the vibrant community of Jersey City with her husband, son, and dog, Hudson. About this episode Our guest this week is Naysa Mishler, co-founder of Everest Effect. Everest Effect is a marketplace that seeks to connect those impacted by disasters directly with brands that can meet the needs of those affected. Including the Nashville tornadoes that destroyed much of a city, the wildfires in Australia or California that seem to occur year after year, or yes, even a global Pandemic like COVID-19. Everest Effect seeks to provide for real needs, from real people, in real-time. Despite the vast ambition we see today, Naysa's journey did not start with such lofty goals. You also will hear during today's episode that the responsibilities of life flavor how we navigate our career and business. This is Naysa Mishler's startup story.  In this episode, you'll hear  Her early childhood and her experience watching (and working in) her father's retail business Some business lessons learned from her father at a young age, like putting the customer first and also realizing that starting a retail store was not appealing to her at all. What she was interested in was broadcast journalism and becoming the next Katie Couric, but you'll hear about how later in her college career, she pivoted to journalism and public relations Her experience following college and realizing that even public relations were not where her real passion was and how she began to put passion first in each new direction she took: "Every time I explore new opportunities, I always start with asking myself 'What am I passionate about?" and then pursue the companies that are doing that well." Her first role at Citi and how did that season in her life set her up for what would become Everest Effect She talks about her time working for LinkedIn and what it taught her about 'People and Product.'
