She is a mother; self-published author and motivational speaker, and marathoner.  Jamicka wrote her first book titled, “YOU MATTER” as a way to fight back against forces in her life that had her feeling as if she didn’t matter.  In writing this book, she wanted to inspire other people through a collection of stories of how she impacted people; and, how they impacted her to be the phenomenal woman that she is today.  Her story is a true testimony of using your challenges as fuel for success. BEING YOU 365 Episode 5:  YOU MATTER with Jamicka Edwards

Jamicka Edwards has a genuine love for life and all people. Although Jamicka has experienced many life trials, she overcomes obstacles and strives to give others hope. She greets everyone with an infectious smile. When you leave her, you will know that You Matter.Jamicka was born and raised in a south suburb of Chicago, IL.  After graduating from High School and going to college for one year, she joined the U. S. Army. Her High School Counselor had told her that she wasn't smart enough to attend college. After 14 years of attending six different colleges, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. Now an Army Veteran, she currently works for the Department of Veteran Affairs - Veteran Administration Hospital.She motivates and inspires others to live life to the fullest. In 2014, she published her first book - "You Matter, What would living in your purpose every day look like?"She created her own book tour and traveled across the country. She was able to get her book into several public libraries in her home state of Illinois.She recently relocated to Indianapolis, IN raising her three amazing sons as a single mother. She volunteers at their schools, and she does her best not to miss any of their sporting and school events.
