Für ihren aktuellen Spielfilm "The trouble with being born" wurde Sandra Wollner bereits im Vorjahr auf der Berlinale mit dem "Spezialpreis der Jury" ausgezeichnet und ganz aktuell im Rahmen des diesjährigen österreichischen Filmpreises gleich in vier Kategorien: "Beste Regie", "Bester Film", "Beste Tongestaltung" und "Beste Maske". Im Zentrum des Noir-Science-Fiction-Films steht ein Android in Gestalt eines zehnjährigen Kindes, ein Roboter, der als Ersatz für fehlende Menschen dienen soll. Eine Geschichte, die um Themen unserer Zeit kreist, wie etwa künstliche Intelligenz, Empathie und besonders Einsamkeit. Themen, die für Sandra Wollner allerdings nicht nur aktuell, sondern schon immer wesentlich waren. The picture—about a not-too-futuristic scenario in which android replicas of our loved ones are created for extremely questionable purposes—is nonetheless getting a national cinema release in Australia on 3 December. It also plays the Revelation Perth International Film Festival from 9 December.
