L’homme à l’honneur de notre Deli Express est l’un des musiciens les plus intéressants de la nouvelle scène londonienne.Avant de s’établir en Grande-Bretagne, le clarinettiste et saxophoniste Giacomo Smith est passé par l’Italie, où il est né, et New York où il a grandi.Désormais installé à Londres et donc au cœur du bouillonnement qui secoue en ce moment la capitale britannique, il a su tirer son épingle du jeu grâce à sa vision tout-terrain et à 360 degrés du jazz…Une vision qu’il cristallise avec les Kansas Smitty’s, le groupe qu’il dirige depuis dix ans. Avec cette formation, Giacomo Smith a d’ailleurs récemment sorti l’album « We’re Not in Kansas Anymore ».Mais c’est avec un tout autre projet qu’il se produit ce soir et demain au Duc des Lombards…On va le retrouver avec son Hot Five, un clin d’œil au répertoire des années 1920 et 1930 de Louis Armstrong.C’est aussi la musique qu’il vient nous présenter ce midi, avec Pete Horsfall à la trompette, Dan Higham au trombone, Dave Archer à la guitare, le pianiste Joe Webb.
