Preston Calvert of South Haven High School Wrestling is our WSJM Sports Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the Week for the week of March 14, 2021. Preston helped lead the Rams to a second straight District championship and then went on to capture and Individual District title. At Team Districts, Preston scored two wins by pin. At Individual Districts, he picked up a semifinal win over the undefeated 7th ranked wrestler in the state the championship win over the returning state runner-up. Preston is also a member of the South Haven Football team. In the classroom, he carries a 3.11 grade point average. Preston is the son of Michelle Beck and Jason Calvert. Other finalists for the week were Matthew Allett of Decatur Basketball, Amara Littlefield of Bangor Basketball, and Harlee Burrows of South Haven Bowling. Preston Calvert – Van Buren/Cass Student Athlete of the Week

Preston Calvert is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Preston is also a racer who competes in GT and GTS classes and is a Medical Adviser to the Pirelli World Challenge. He currently drives a 2018 Panoz Avezzano GT4, a 2018 Porsche 991.2 GT3 Cup car, a 2010 Chevrolet Corvette SCCA GT2, and a 2012 Ford Mustang SCCA T2. He holds multiple Championships and track records. He’s an Army veteran of 15 years and practiced medicine for 27 years. Preston is part of Racing Safety United (RSU), a new driver safety advocacy group with representatives from many areas in motorsports.
