Amy is currently a trumpeter/cornetist in a premier military band which performs regularly at the White House and on national concert tours. She was recently a featured solo recitalist at the International Trumpet Guild conference, the International Women's Brass Conference, a chamber recitalist at the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic and was a featured soloist with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. In addition, Amy has also performed with the New York Philharmonic, the National Symphony, Brass Band of Battle Creek, the Monarch Brass and was a featured soloist of the first National touring cast of the Tony and Emmy-award winning show, Blast! Amy has been a member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra, a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Festival, Spoleto Music Festival, Pine Mountain Music Festival, Artosphere Festival and was a member of the Walt Disney World Collegiate All-Star Big Band. Andrew &amp; Lance are joined by Amy McCabe to talk about her winning a major military band audition, what it was like to be the featured soloist for Blast while being suspended from the ceiling every night, and about a health scare that helped her to focus and become the world class trumpet player she is today. Interestingly, Amy went to undergrad planning on being an elementary school librarian! She did not decide to become a professional trumpet player until later. She also touches on the "Chicago approach" to brass playing and what it was like to study with Barbara Butler and Charles Geyer at Northwestern University.
