EP 006: Community Pet Project, with Rhonda Eldridge

This episode of The Tatiana Show, Tatiana has a one on one conversation with Rhonda Eldridge, founder of the non-profit Harness All Possibilities. A native of the Bahamas, Rhonda had over 25 years experience working in financial institutions before the economic crash of 2008. Seeing the disruption the recession had caused in many people’s lives led her to start her non-profit, Harness All Possibilities. HAP’s mission has been to educate and assist professionals in adapting to business in the 21st century and developing new skills. In 2015, Rhonda discovered blockchain technology and began immersing herself in the field. She has been active in the crypto space for the past 4 years. Rhonda gives us some details of her recent projects in her native Bahamas around blockchain and cryptocurrency. She helped organize the 1st Bahamas Cryptocurrency and Blockchain Conference in the summer of 2018. This past August, she held a hackathon for the youth of The Bahamas. The children had access to online courses on blockchain and AI technologies before participating in a 3 day event building solutions with the technology they had been learning from the courses. In June 2018, an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) charitable organization called The Community Pet Project was formed serving Hillsborough County, Florida.   Many local rescue volunteers were frequently encountering homeless and at-risk people who were desperately trying to care for their pets.  For many of these people, their pets were their only reason to keep moving forward and survive the despair of their current situations.  Without the help of the Community Pet Project, many of these pets would have to be surrendered to local shelters.  The Community Pet Project volunteers work to help these people keep and care for their pets.  Quarterly community outreach events are held with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office and the Tampa Police Department to provide homeless and at-risk families pet food and pet supplies such as flea prevention, wormer, grooming supplies, treats, and toys. as well as information regarding veterinary care and spay and neuter surgeries.  Financial contributions and product donations are greatly appreciated and always needed.

Second, thanks for coming back and listening to my rambles and rants with guest(s).  If this is your first time, thanks for checking me out. Here is a breakdown of the podcast. TC2C: Daily Talk The episode is broken into 2 segments. The first part is called Daily Talk and last about 10 mins or less. I primarily cover what I'm going through in transitioning my career path from fiat to crypto-based work. There good, bad, and ugly. I try and cover what it's really like living in space from my personal experiences and observations. The recordings start from November 2017. There's a lot to cover. TC2C: Everyday People The second segment Everyday People is the actual interview or as I like to say conversation. They can last from 20 to 60 plus mins. I use framing questions but the time varies based on the person. I don't do price talk or politics. And there is no blatant shilling of products or services. However, in the end, I do however ask the guest what a blockchain based product or service they would tell someone else about it. So that's pretty much it. The point of this segment is to share the story of everyday people who are at the ground level and forefront of the crypto space working to help educate and empower people about cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.   I'm a true believer that for mass adoption to happen we have to include people from all walks of life. I want to share those stories to show that anyone can be involved in blockchain and cryptocurrencies. In this Daily Talk, I was trying a new format of doing a weekly wrap up. At this time I really started to understand what is meant by the "crypto rabbit whole." Even though I've been in the space for-year at that point. It felt like I was learning everything over again. And there was so much more information available compared to when I first got in. I was also getting overwhelmed from trying to do everything on my own and in one day. I would literally be up for 18 plus hours in a day. This is now something I recommend for anyone. Not everyone has the time or energy to do what I did, honestly. The more significant lesson was learning that I had to pace my self on how I was working on the various projects. And it was ok to not finish everything in 1 day. For the Everyday People segment, I had the chance to speak with Rhonda Eldridge. She was a CPA by trade but now works in investment funding of blockchain based companies. We talk about the shift in her original career path and what got her into blockchain technology and cryptos.  She talks about helping others gain more insight into the space and become active participants. We even expand on the playing out of the top down and bottom up models and the effect they will have on the mass adoption of blockchain technology. Well, that's the episode.
