Sharon Dukett is an award-winning author who has been a computer programmer, project manager, and deputy director in state government. In her memoir, No Rules, Sharon writes about her journey of awakening to feminism and discovering her own strength after running away from home to join the hippies in 1971. Sharon lives in central Connecticut with her husband, within driving distance of her three children and four grandchildren. She is currently seeking representation for a thriller about when climate, corruption, and betrayal converge as one woman struggles to find and rescue her husband who has disappeared after being arrested while protesting. Sharon Dukett is an award-winning author who was previously a computer programmer, project manager, and deputy director in state government. Her life wasn't always perfect, even in her teenage years.At the grand old age of 16, Sharon and her sister ran away from home without telling her parents. She even talked her ex-boyfriend into driving them across the country to California.Talk about trying to get as far away as possible! It could have just been Massachusetts, but that would have been too easy.If that wasn't brave enough, she then hitchhiked across 15 States and 6 Canadian Provinces.A memoir had to be written in later years, so the book No Rules was published. Ran away from home at age 16 from Connecticut to California. Then hitchhiked across Canada. Brave lady Sharon Dukett tells the story and more.

Growing up, Sharon felt she had no future, because girls were discouraged from attending college. Her future felt pointless. Sharon ran away from home with her older sister at the age of 16. At first, the hippie movement in California was wonderful, but she realized that it wasn't what she thought it would be. Sharon was very depressed and felt suicidal. Then, she read a book, which helped her envision a place where there's love and caring for one another. This gave Sharon hope and inspiration. She wanted to grab life and live it. Sharon realized that society's expectations of women's roles was most likely the root of her unhappiness. She felt empowered, because she didn't have to follow those rules. Sharon expanded herself to go in new directions.
